The human resources profession has long been considered one of the most rewarding and demanding jobs in the world, but it’s becoming more and more challenging.
In fact, a new study by the U.S. Department of Labor indicates that human resources graduates are now graduating with a significantly lower percentage of job offers than their peers from other professions.
“We are seeing more graduates coming into HR in a year and a half than we were a decade ago,” said Julie J. O’Brien, the director of HR and human resources at the U of T, in a press release.
“It is a challenge to be hired for the job, and employers are also struggling to find qualified HR professionals.”
The study examined HR graduates who had taken their certification in human resources and were employed by companies with more than 200 employees.
In the years since then, HR graduates have had a much lower success rate in securing employment.
According to the report, only 17.7 per cent of graduates were employed in the human resources industry in the years after they graduated.
“The reality is that HR is still relatively difficult to find in today’s competitive environment,” said O’Brien.
She says it’s a big issue that HR professionals often have to contend with when applying for new jobs, especially when they have to learn the industry’s lingo and cultural nuances.
“If you are not a native speaker, it is really challenging,” she said.
It’s not just the hiring of HR professionals that is affected by the report.
It also looks at the careers of the people who work in HR.
According, the study found that women in HR had a higher failure rate, but that they still had a significant advantage in their field compared to their male counterparts.
In addition, the HR career is also increasingly being dominated by people of colour.
Black and Hispanic HR professionals are more likely to fail in the job search, according to the study, but women are much more likely than men to be fired.
“When you look at the people of color who have made it through to HR, it’s almost like a pipeline to HR.
There is almost a one-to-one correlation,” said Jules Johnson, who directs the research and development program at the University of Toronto’s Centre for Workplace Diversity and Equity.
“So that’s a really interesting thing that’s happening, where one group of people are getting pushed aside and the other group of groups are not,” she added.
“And we’re not seeing a change in that pipeline, either.”
There are several factors that contribute to this lack of diversity in HR, according the report: There are currently more women in the HR field, but the number is still lower than it was a decade or so ago.
The report says the percentage of women in leadership positions in the field is actually lower than at any point in HR’s history.
There are more people of different backgrounds working in HR than ever before, and they are not represented equally.
In 2016, the U-T found that, of the top 500 companies in Canada, only one woman held the job.
The reason for this is because many HR departments are still dominated by white men.
There were also issues with diversity in the workplace when the UTS surveyed employees in the UICs office.
The survey revealed that only 14 per cent said that diversity was a priority, compared to 63 per cent in the past five years.
This is the result of HR departments having an outdated view of the workplace, which doesn’t reflect the way people actually work.
While the HR workforce is growing, diversity in all levels of the industry is being left behind, according a report from the Centre for Research in Social Movements.
“While HR departments continue to focus on hiring more women and minorities, they have largely neglected the impact of their own culture on hiring and retention,” said the report’s co-author, Maren J. Gerson, an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at U of Toronto.
In other words, they’re not really thinking about how to create a more diverse workforce.
“There are people in HR who are not doing anything to create the right environment for people to be successful,” said Johnson.
“That’s one of our biggest challenges.
It is really hard to recruit people who are really passionate about their jobs.”
